When I was very very young...probably one one my earliest memories...I remember sitting on the floor in the living room, playing. The front door opened, and my daddie came in. My mom came from the kitchen and said, "I'm glad you're home! I thought it'd started to rain." My daddie replied, "It has started...it's raining now." My mom said, "But you're not wet!" To which my daddie answered, "I walked in between the drops!"

It was at that moment I realized my daddie was MAGIC.

I have always had that kind of relatioship with Dad. Not to imply that I didn't push the limits with him, because I can hear Mom disputing that from here! It was more of a Father-really-DOES-know-best-we-both-know-it-but-I'm-going-to-try-things-my-way-regardless kind of thing. Dad always had lots of patience with me, while keeping his sense of humor. And WHAT a sense of humor!

One of the last times I saw that glint in his eye, (anyone who knew him knows the glint to which I'm referring,) he was teasing Mom about the dogs. (Mom would say that she had to feed the dogs 3 or 4 times before she would do it.) So he said, "I am his Highness' dog at Kew;
Pray tell me, sir, whose dog are you?” (AlexanderPope) Mom, who is slightly hard-of-hearing couldn't understand what the heck he was talking about! Maybe you had to be there, but it was really quite amusing.

So, these have been just a few of my thoughts for now. I can't believe that it's been a year since he's been gone! In some ways it seems like it happened yesterday, and other ways it seems like it happened so long ago. No matter  what, I love you, Daddie, and I miss you. Hummhumm.
